CYPLAR implements for third year the Self-management programme

CYPLAR (Cyprus League Against Rheumatism) organised from 7 February to 7 March the first yearly round of the Self-management programme (divided into five meetings) which took place at CYPLAR’s offices in Larnaca. This programme is implemented in the context of Agora’s Self-management program that was created within the framework of the “Partners in Treatment Project” (PAIT) and it has been signed and agreed by all AGORA’s members to be implemented on an annual basis. CYPLAR implements this programme for third year in a row while the self-management workshops are taking place in three different rounds every year.

This year’s first workshop was guided by the trained members of CYPLAR Mrs Spyroula David, Mrs Souzi Makri and Ms Persefoni Makridou, while 12 patients with RMDs participated in the workshops.

The main purposes of this programme are to inform the participants about the RMDs , to educate patients about their conditions, to support patients on how to manage negative consequences of their disease and to encourage them to stay active members of the society. Also advices and guidance to the participants for effective communication between patient and doctor have been given.
