World Arthritis Day 2019

Today is a day I World Arthritis Day. Every year, 12th of October it is a day to rejoice and to renew our efforts in insuring that all the needs of people affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis and rheumatic and muscoloskeletal diseases (RMDs) alike are acknowledged and properly cared for.
AGORA and its member organizations are working together with the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR), People against rheumatism in Europe (PARE), health professionals and scientific societies in safeguarding the rights of the RA patients across Europe as well as in every country.
Ovidiu Constantinescu, AGORA Chairman of the Board: “Raising the awareness on RA and the other rheumatic condition is just the first step. We need to do more in truly placing the RA patient the center of the medical act, to insure proper access to early diagnosis and best treatment available. We also have to do more in educating the community in accepting that a painful condition is not always visible with the naked eye. We have to make sure that the governments fully understand that people with RA that are quickly diagnosed and properly treated can be an asset and not a burden for the budget”.
AGORA fully supports the EULAR campaign, Don’t Delay, Connect Today, with the new emphasis on working with rheumatic or musculoskeletal diseases. AGORA considers that having an early diagnosis and access to proper care insure that RA patients may be able to live their lives as close to normal as possible, be able to work and thus receive the recognition they deserve.
